These emblematic structures, built in the 1970s as a thermal power plant, ceased operation in 2011 and are currently disused. In 2024, they were reopened as one of the main spaces of Manifesta 15, hosting events both inside the old turbine hall and in the outdoor spaces. This location, full of history and symbolism, is adapted this year as the new stage of Sala Montjuïc, maintaining the essence of the event and opening up new possibilities to experience another year of an essential event for the summers of the metropolitan area of Barcelona. The most iconic outdoor cinema in Barcelona, Sala Montjuïc, is temporarily moving to Les Tres Xemeneies due to renovation works at Montjuïc Castle and the Santa Eulàlia moat, where the outdoor screenings are usually held. The 24th edition of Sala Montjuïc presents a careful selection of 18 films that combine recent hits, essential classics and cult titles, all in their original subtitled versions. As is tradition, each session will begin with a live concert starring emerging and established artists from the local music scene, offering an immersive experience that unites cinema and music in a unique setting. This year's edition will open on June 27 with A Complete Unknown , the biopic about Bob Dylan directed by James Mangold , accompanied by live music by Lluki Valverde. From here, the summer will unfold with an exceptional lineup that includes award-winning titles like Anora and A Real Pain, masterpieces like Blade Runner and Old Boy , and timeless classics like The Apartment and Forrest Gump.
