He has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction in the past, but has been sober since 2007. He has been involved in various charitable causes, including UNICEF and Comic Relief. Williams is married to American actress Ayda Field and they have four children together. The original name of the RCD Espanyol was 'Sociedad Espanola de Futbol.' The first club strip were bright yellow shirts, which inspired the nickname that stands to this day, 'Los Periquitos' - The Parakeets.
