More ideas for things to do in Barcelona in August

When weather gets too toasty, then head for the Barcelona beaches - or the Barcelona outdoor swimming pools. The pool with stunning views of the city is the Olympic diving pool on Montjuic hill. There are many other indoor and oudoor swimming pools in Barcelona. You can find very nice beaches outside Barcelona, both north and south of Barcelona, all easily accessible by the coast trains. In particular the Costa Brava coast is very scenic. It is 2 hours north of Barcelona, but there are no direct trains to the Costa Brava from Barcelona because of the rugged cliff terrain so the best way to visit is to rent a car or take a bus from Estacio de Nord bus station. If you are in Barcelona for a few days and want to beat the heat, then head for the mountains. We recommend a day tour to the Pyrenees mountains and Andorra.
